Stop being so damn photosensitive

I have migraines. This makes me rather photosensitive to light, especially from the computer screen. Sometimes, it is a low level headache and I just need to continue working. I have used the brightness controls and have worn sunglasses. Both of these work to a degree, but they aren't great. Enter F.lux, a small  FREE program that adjusts tint on your screen to match the time of day. Many studies have shown how looking at our bright screens at night, not only affects our sleeping but your activity the next day. As the sun sets F.lux goes to work by incrementally adjusting the color of your screen. By the time you are ready to go to sleep you will find it is very yellowed. Now, while this is good for the non photosensitive, it is still not enough to help my eyes. I tend to use a rather extreme feature on the application called darkroom. This changes inverts the colors of the screen and adds a reddish tint similar to an actual darkroom, used for developing film. F.lux has allowed me to keep working when I need, despite my eyes. Give it a try for a week and see if you sleep any better during the night.
